Comfort and time-saving options
We take comfort seriously, especially for nervous patients. If you feel anxious, tell us, we will slow down, explain each step, and work at your pace.
We also offer nitrous oxide (happy gas) for suitable patients to help reduce anxiety during treatment. Guidance on nitrous oxide and its safe use in dentistry is outlined by the Dental Board of Australia and Australian Dental Association resources.
For local anaesthetic, we use The Wand, a computer-assisted delivery system designed to make injections more comfortable for many patients.
For suitable cases, CEREC technology can allow a crown to be made and fitted in a single appointment, reducing the need for multiple visits.
Our approach: preventative, personal, practical
We would rather help you avoid problems than fix them. Regular check-ups and cleans are not just about polish. They help us spot decay, gum disease, and wear early, when treatment is simpler.
Many of our patients have been with us for decades. That trust comes from listening to patients’ concerns, explaining options clearly, and never recommending unnecessary treatment.
We respect your time and aim to keep appointments running smoothly. We also focus on comfort and gentle techniques, and we can discuss options for anxious patients.
Fillings
Done Right
If you need a filling, we use modern tooth-colored composite materials that blend naturally with your teeth. They're strong, durable, and practically invisible.
We only remove as much tooth structure as necessary to clear the decay and create a secure filling. Our gentle technique and proper anesthesia mean you won't feel pain during the procedure - just some pressure.
For larger cavities or cracked teeth, we'll discuss whether a filling is sufficient or if a crown would be a better long-term solution.
Comprehensive check-ups that catch problems early
A proper dental examination is about more than checking for cavities. At each visit, we:
Examine all teeth for decay, cracks, or wear
Check existing fillings and restorations
Assess gum health and screen for gum disease
Look for signs of teeth grinding or jaw problems
Screen for oral cancer
Take X-rays when needed to see what's happening below the surface
Discuss any concerns you have
We explain what we find in plain English, not dental jargon. If treatment is needed, we'll discuss your options and help you prioritise based on urgency and budget.
Professional cleaning: More than just a polish
Even with excellent brushing and flossing, plaque and tartar build up in hard-to-reach areas. Professional cleanings remove this buildup, reducing your risk of cavities and gum disease.
During your clean, we:
Remove tartar and plaque from teeth and below the gumline
Polish teeth to remove surface stains
Check for early signs of gum disease
Provide personalised advice on your home care routine
Most people need a clean every 6 months, though some patients with gum disease or heavy tartar buildup benefit from more frequent visits.
Root canal therapy: Saving teeth, not pulling them
Root canal treatment gets a bad reputation, but modern techniques make it no more uncomfortable than getting a filling. The goal is to save a tooth that's infected or severely damaged rather than extracting it.
If you need a root canal, we'll explain exactly what's involved, ensure you're completely comfortable during treatment, and follow up to make sure the tooth heals properly. Most teeth treated with root canals need a crown afterward for protection.
Emergency dental care
Dental emergencies happen - a knocked-out tooth, severe toothache, broken crown, or facial swelling. We make room in our schedule for urgent cases and will see you as quickly as possible.
If you have a dental emergency:
Call us immediately - We'll assess the situation and get you in the same day if needed
Severe pain or swelling - Don't wait, call right away
After hours - Our voicemail has emergency contact information
Common emergencies we handle: severe toothache, broken or knocked-out teeth, lost fillings or crowns, abscess or swelling, trauma to teeth or mouth.
Family dentistry: From toddlers to grandparents
We've been looking after families across the Eastern Suburbs for over 35 years. That means we've treated parents, then their kids, and in some cases, their grandkids too.
For children:
We make first visits fun and pressure-free (no drills, just a look around)
Gentle, patient approach that builds confidence
Preventative treatments like sealants and fluoride
Education on brushing, flossing, and tooth-friendly food choices
For adults:
Comprehensive care from routine check-ups to complex treatments
Treatment plans that fit your budget and timeline
Honest advice on what you need now vs. what can wait
For seniors:
Management of age-related dental issues
Denture care and adjustments
Treatment of dry mouth and gum recession
Coordination with medical providers when needed

Frequently Asked Questions About General Dentistry
-
Most people benefit from a check-up and clean every 6 months. This frequency allows us to catch problems early and keep your teeth and gums healthy. Some patients with gum disease or high cavity risk need more frequent visits (every 3-4 months), while others with excellent oral health might only need annual check-ups. We'll recommend what makes sense for your situation.
-
Call us right away. Toothaches don't get better on their own and often indicate an underlying problem like decay or infection. We'll assess the cause and recommend treatment. In the meantime, over-the-counter pain relief can help, but avoid placing aspirin directly on the tooth or gums (it can burn tissue).
-
Yes. Modern digital X-rays use 90% less radiation than traditional film X-rays, and the exposure is minimal—about the same radiation you'd get on a short plane flight. We only take X-rays when clinically necessary to diagnose problems we can't see during a visual examination.
-
Even with excellent home care, plaque hardens into tartar (calculus) in hard-to-reach areas, especially below the gumline. Once it's tartar, you can't remove it with brushing—it requires professional instruments. Regular cleanings prevent tartar buildup, reduce gum inflammation, and help you avoid more serious problems like gum disease.
-
Absolutely. Many of our patients were anxious about dental visits when they first came to us. We take extra time to explain what we're doing, work at your pace, and use gentle techniques. Let us know about your anxiety, we'll do everything we can to make you comfortable. For very anxious patients, we can discuss sedation options.
-
We offer nitrous oxide (happy gas) for suitable patients. It can help reduce anxiety and make treatment feel more manageable. We will explain whether it is appropriate for you during your appointment.
-
A check-up (examination) is when we assess your oral health—checking for decay, gum disease, and other issues. A scale and clean (professional cleaning) removes plaque and tartar buildup. Most patients have both done at the same appointment.
-
We provide clear pricing before treatment and can process health fund claims on the spot if you have private health insurance with dental cover.
-
We recommend bringing children in around age 2-3, or when most of their baby teeth have come through. Early visits are about getting comfortable with the dentist, not treatment. We make it fun, show them the chair and tools, and build positive associations with dental care.
-
You're not alone, and we won't judge. Many patients come to us after years away from dental care. We'll assess what's needed, prioritize any urgent issues, and create a manageable treatment plan. Sometimes the best approach is addressing problems gradually rather than all at once.
-
Yes, we accept all major health funds and can process your claim through HICAPS on the spot. You'll only pay the gap (if any). If you don't have health insurance, we can discuss payment options.
-
Yes. We accept all health funds and offer on-the-day claiming with HICAPS, so you only pay the balance.
